Dear Friend of the Second Amendment,

Gun owners in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District have an important job to do this November: elect Andy Barr to Congress.barrpic

Andy Barr earned an “A” rating from Gun Owners of America based on his unwavering commitment to the right to keep and bear arms and his understanding that the Second Amendment protects an individual, fundamental liberty that predates the Constitution.

Mr. Barr will always place the Second Amendment ahead of partisan politics. The same cannot be said of his opponent

Three times in 2009, Ben Chandler voted against protecting gun rights in national parks, including parks in Kentucky. On those votes, he chose to be loyal to then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi instead of the Second Amendment.

Of course, Chandler has consistently been loyal to Pelosi by voting for the San Francisco anti-gunner as Speaker every two years.

Chandler also voted for the so-called DISCLOSE Act, a bill that hampers the ability of groups like GOA to criticize a congressman’s voting record in the months leading up to an election.

Far from bringing transparency to the political process, the DISCLOSE Act actually shields politicians from the people they’re supposed to represent. It would be better named the “incumbent protection act.”

And Chandler recently voted against repealing ObamaCare, despite repeated warnings from GOA that the new law does not contain adequate safeguards to keep government bureaucrats from using a federal database of medical records to strip gun owners of their Second Amendment rights.

The truth remains that if President Obama is re-elected and Rep. Nancy Pelosi returns to the Speaker's chair in the U.S. House of Representatives, the most hostile pair of enemies the Second Amendment has ever seen will have regained unbridled power; this time without the tempering influence of a presidential re-election campaign.  Pelosi, in particular, will once again have at her disposal the power to dispense favors and issue threats to bring wavering Democrats into line on critical votes.

Bluntly speaking, preserving and protecting the Second Amendment requires members of Congress who will vote against Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and who will stand firm, shoulder-to-shoulder, with us on critical votes without being beholden to a party leadership which strives to undermine Second Amendment rights at every opportunity.  In the race to represent Kentucky's Sixth Congressional District, Andy Barr is the only candidate who meets these criteria.

Andy Barr possesses not just the talent, background, and character to become an outstanding Member of Congress; he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Second Amendment.  We also know that Andy Barr will fight to expose the efforts in progress to undermine the Second Amendment, where his incumbent opponent has remained largely mute.

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund strongly endorses the election of Andy Barr to Congress in Kentucky's Sixth Congressional District.  Please visit Andy online to support his candidacy with your volunteer efforts and financial contribution.
