Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is pleased to endorse Dr. Rand Paul for U.S. Senate in Kentucky.

Rand Paul's commitment to the right to keep and bear arms is unwavering.  He understands that the framers of the Constitution viewed private ownership of firearms not merely as a hunting or sporting issue, but chiefly as a safeguard of liberty.

Dr. Paul is committed not only to defending the Second Amendment against further legislative attacks, but also in rolling back unconstitutional gun laws that are on the books.

On the campaign trail, Dr. Paul calls out politicians who "give lip service to the 2nd Amendment but then go off to Washington and vote to restrict gun ownership."

Dr. Paul also understands that the Second Amendment is only as strong as the rest of the Bill of Rights.  So, for instance, an attack on the First Amendment such as so-called campaign finance reform (McCain-Feingold) can muzzle the voice of groups like GOA.

And attacks against the Fourth Amendment, such as were found in certain portions of the Patriot Act, can be a threat to gun owners.

"Gun rights advocates need to know that the 2nd amendment is only as good as the Fourth Amendment. If we are not free from unreasonable and warrantless searches, no one's guns are safe," said Dr. Paul.

It is time for a new way of thinking in Washington.  We need real leaders who respect our constitutional freedoms and who will stand up to -- and not be a part of -- the political establishment.

With the Second Amendment being incrementally destroyed by politicians who pay more attention to anti-gun New York Times editorials than to the words of the Founding Fathers, it is important to elect principled men and women who adhere to the Constitution.
